Gold Coasters urged to sing their heart out for a good cause

Gold Coasters are being urged to get behind the microphone to help raise funds for a local man in need of support.

A karaoke and auction event will be held at Robina Bowls Club on Saturday night to help raise funds for Justin Colquhoun, following his difficult battle with cancer.

Justin was diagnosed in January 2014 with Squamous Cell Carcinoma, undergoing three separate operations between January and July 2014.

However, the battle continued for Justin, with doctors finding another lump the following month.

He had surgery to remove the lump and had to undergo a further 6 weeks of radiation.

He continued to work in order to support his wife and two children throughout the entire treatment.

He was given the all clear in January 2015 until a biopsy in June showed the cancer was growing aggressively in his jaw bone.

Just ten days later, Justin married his wife Sam, but spent the time most couples would be on their honeymoon going in and out of the Gold Coast University Hospital prepping him for major surgery

He has since gone through over 25 hours of invasive surgery.

Justin has a long road ahead towards rehabilitation with physio – speech therapy, more radiation and further plastic surgeries and will be unable to work during this time.

Justins friend’s and family have rallied in support for their beloved family member and are calling on the Gold Coast community to rally behind them in their time of need.
