Gold Coasters are being warned to prepare for another wet weather event this weekend, however luckily conditions are not expected to be as bad as those seen on the coast two weeks ago.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Gordon Banks says a strong upper trough is expected to move into the west of our area on Saturday night with heavy rain predicted for most of Sunday.
“Saturday night and Sunday morning we will definitely see the cloud and rain set in, with the possibility of some thunderstorms in the mix as well.”

“Sunday is looking particularly wet – we could see some heavy falls of up to 100mm, with the possibility of some flash flooding and strong winds.”
Mr Banks said that although we’re not expecting the drama on the coast that we saw with the previous weather event two weeks ago, the heavy rain was still a concern.
“Motorists are advised to try and avoid driving on Sunday, especially if we have persistent heavy rain.”
The rain is expected to clear off the coast on Monday with cooler conditions expected to set in next week.
