Gold Coast’s very own Amy Shark has taken out the Artist of the Year award at the Gold Coast Music Awards for the third time in a row.
Shark wasn’t on the coast to accept the award last night, as she continues her ‘Love Monster’ tour in Western Australia.
Shark was also the first person to be officially inducted into the new Gold Coast Music Hall of Fame.

It’s unclear exactly when or how the Gold Coast’s Hall of Fame will be established, though ideas are already being thrown around about a plaque in the ground on the Surfers Paradise boardwalk or an artwork somewhere in the city.
Other winners at the Gold Coast Music Awards in Surfers Paradise last night included San Mei – who took home Breakout Artist of the Year for her indie rock song ‘Wonder’, Wolfmother’s keyboard player Ian Peres – won the Musician of the Year award (a new addition), and experimental dance and music artist YT Dingo took out Video of the Year for his ‘Shipwrecked’ music clip.
The awards ceremony was hosted in Surfers Paradise last night, with around 400 people in attendance.
Feeling incredibly proud tonight. I’m the first ever inductee into the Gold Coast Music Hall of Fame ❤️? https://t.co/3S0iNdRKDi
