Gold Coast’s first pop-up beach club to open this weekend

Gold Coasters will soon be able to feel the sand between their toes whilst sipping on a refreshing cocktail, with the city’s first ever pop-up beach club opening this weekend.

Construction of the new trial beach bar, dubbed Kurrawa Beach Club, is ramping up ahead of the official opening this Saturday, December 4 – right in time for the summer holidays.

The club, which is being set up on the popular Kurrawa Terrace in Broadbeach, will be open to the public for two months until January 31, with the future of the club depending on the success of the trial.

Speaking to reporters from the beach club on Thursday, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said he’s hopeful locals and tourists will embrace the new offering.

“It’s a 60 day trial and I’ll be monitoring it… When I looked at it today, I felt like stripping off and relaxing now, but ill wait until Saturday!” the Mayor joked.

“Gold Coasters are very hospitable people and to be able to have some fine food and a beer on the beach with your loved ones, it only adds to your beach experience.

“I am confident that people will trial it out, and I’ll be there lying in the sun!”

Mayor Tate described the beach club as the perfect place for people to relax and enjoy the views of Kurrawa’s golden sands and rolling waves.

“I don’t know if there’s anywhere else in Queensland that does this,” the Mayor said.

Featuring a summer inspired menu using fresh, local, seasonal produce, the beach club will have a variety of food options for guests to enjoy, including seafood skewers, burgers and light salads.

While the onsite bar will provide all the summer sips, with a line-up of homegrown brands on the list including Grandad Jacks Gin, Black Hops Brewing and Hard Fizz.

Kurrawa Beach Club Venue Manager Dave Pull said his team is counting down to the opening this weekend.

“Whether locals are looking for a place for a relaxing drink after work, a destination to gather with friends on the weekend, a family activity or simply somewhere to enjoy the views with delicious bites, we have it all,” he said.

“Our venue has plenty of seating options to cater to any occasion, with guests able to relax on the daybeds, deckchairs and in the VIP cabanas and casual dining areas, and we are sure our entertainment will be a hit all summer long.

“The Gold Coast is an incredible city and we are so proud to be able to bring this beautiful beach club to Kurrawa Terrace for everyone to enjoy.”
