Gold Coast’s largest display village opens its doors to the public

THE Gold Coast’s largest display village is officially open for inspection.

The doors to 31 new display homes at The Surrounds – a $500 million community at Helensvale – were officially opened by Deputy Mayor Cr Donna Gates on Friday.

The launch coincides with the official opening of Stage Two of the Gold Coast light rail this Sunday.

The display village features designs from 10 leading builders including Aston Milan, GJ Gardner, McCarthy Homes, McDonald Jones, Metricon, Plantation Homes, Porter Davis, Simonds Homes and Stylemaster.

The Surrounds will cover more than 60ha and include up to 620 homes, 20ha of green space, including a central park with barbeque areas and playgrounds for all ages, and a leisure centre with lap pool, cafe, and gymnasium.

Villawood Properties Executive Director Tony Johnson said the light rail connection to Helensvale will be a catalyst for the gentrification of the New Helensvale.

“The $420 million stage two light rail connection to Helensvale is the first great step in unlocking the full potential of The Surrounds, which is being developed on such a unique site,” he said.

“The light rail connection at Helensvale was the missing link between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and it’s exciting for our first residents, existing and prospective buyers to witness the unparalleled convenience on offer, with passenger services commencing this weekend.”

Mr Johnson says the display village showcases a range of innovative, contemporary homes, featuring a mix of four and five bedroom designs, with a combination of single and double-storey layouts.

“Having so many displays from a range of leading builders within one location gives prospective buyers a chance to explore their options and easily compare designs to find the right fit for them,” he said.

“Buyers will find state of the art kitchens and bathrooms, butler’s pantries, his and hers walk-in wardrobes and media rooms, along with ample garage and storage space in the homes.

“Whether you are looking to upgrade to a large stylish home with high-end finishes, or you a seeking a spacious and practical home for a growing family, you will find inspiration at The Surrounds.”

Deputy Mayor Cr Gates says residents at The Surrounds will benefit from having the light rail, heavy rail and bus interchange right at their doorstep, making it one of the most well connected residential communities in Australia.

“The Helensvale station located at the entrance to The Surrounds is now the only transport hub in the state that allows commuters access to three major forms of public transport – heavy rail, light rail, and buses,” she said.

“Residents will now be able to travel directly to Griffith University, Gold Coast University Hospital, Southport CBD, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, without the need of a car.

“In fact, I hear one of the first couples to move into The Surrounds currently have their car on the market, with plans to utilise the tram to get to work in Southport each day. We hope to hear more stories like this.”

The transport hub is within a 800m walk of the display village, along with the rest of the community.

The Surrounds Sales and Information Centre is located on Country Club Drive, Helensvale, and is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. More information is available at
