A GOOD Samaritan who stepped in to try and stop a fight in Hervey Bay has suffered significant head injuries after being knocked out in a shocking one-punch attack by a random passer-by.
Police said the 23-year-old victim was attacked while trying to break up a fight between two men on Charlton Esplanade around 1.15am on Saturday.
It is then alleged a 19-year-old man walking along the Esplanade randomly jumped in and punched the 23-year-old in the head, causing him to lose consciousness and collapse to the ground.
