The State Government have hit back at accusations they let the drug problem on the Gold Coast get out of hand.
In Parliament this morning, the Opposition said during the last 10 years drug overdoses on the Coast had increased by 75 per cent.
Queensland LNP leader Deb Frecklington put this down to a lack of frontline police services and is calling for a dedicated drug squad based on the Gold Coast.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was quick to hit back, saying they’re still trying to recover from when the LNP Government slashed funds for schools, hospitals and police.
She added the problem of drugs was a huge issue across the State.
“My government addressed this issue through our Action On Ice plan,” she said.
“Ice isn’t just a Gold Coast issue, it’s everywhere.
“We need to tackle these as a community, giving support to families and the individuals who are affected by ice.”
