Government focused on policy, not polls after latest Newspoll

The Turnbull Government is spruiking their policy after another poor Newspoll result.

There are ominous signs for the Coalition ahead of the “Super Saturday” July 28 by-elections.

In the latest poll, released today, Labor leads the government 48 to 52, two-party preferred.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop brushed the results aside when speaking to Channel 7 this morning.

“I’m focusing on policies we’re delivering for the people of Queensland and across Australia,” she said.

“We have achieved tax cuts that people said we wouldn’t be able to achieve and that will drive more jobs.

“We are hoping to achieve the State and Terrorities support for GST reforms which will mean greater stability for businesses.

“There is good economic news, and that’s what we’re focusing on.”
