Government to propose tough new changes to ‘no jab, no pay’ law

Parents who don’t immunise their children will be stripped of part of their welfare payments every fortnight under tough new laws set to be introduced to Parliament today.

Under the new laws, parents will lose $28 from their Family Tax Benefit Part A payments every two weeks if their children are not vaccinated.

The current ‘no jab, no pay’ law withholds the payment at the end of year.

The government is hopeful the changes will provide more of an incentive for parents to vaccinate their children.

To check whether your child is fully immunised, you can visit the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
