MORE than 860 Gold Coasters have secured employment thanks to the help of the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.
Minister for Training and Skills Yvette D’Ath said in the Gold Coast region in particular, 1,510 jobseekers had completed a Skilling Queenslanders for Work training program.
“It’s wonderful that 867 people in the region have secured employment thanks to this initiative,” she said.

“What’s more is that in the region, 178 have gone onto further training and 30 have returned to school.”
Mrs D’Ath said the Government had so far invested $10.1 million in the Gold Coast region for 85 projects under Skilling Queenslanders for Work.
“This is part of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment of $240 million over four years across Queensland for this program.
“It is great to see how this program is making a real difference to people’s futures and helping them get into secure long term employment.”
Mrs D’Ath said the initiative assists job seekers across the state to access job readiness training and allows them to earn nationally recognised qualifications and paid traineeships with local councils and not-for-profit organisations.
