AS temperatures rise this summer, Gold Coasters are being encouraged to look out for their elderly friends and relatives.
Communities Minister Tracy Davis said while Christmas was a busy time, it was important not to forget about the wellbeing of seniors.
“For older Queenslanders, the hot conditions during the festive season can take its toll,” she said.

“The hotter weather can be a serious health risk for older people, especially for those who are frail and find it difficult to cope with the heat.
“This is why we are urging people to keep an eye on these vulnerable Queenslanders as the mercury rises.”
The State Government is encouraging locals to routinely call elderly relatives to check on their welfare, particularly during summer.
