Graham Arnold set to be named as Socceroos coach
Sydney FC coach and Australian Football veteran, Graham Arnold, is set to be named as long-term Socceroos coach today.
Reports say Arnold will take over from Bert Van Marwijk after the World Cup in Russia, and is expected to be contracted until the 2022 World Cup.
The Sydney FC coach has been a favourite for the top job due to his record-breaking success in the A-Leauge with the Sky Blues.
When announced today, it will be the second time the 54-year-old has coached the national side after taking control of the Aussies for 12 months after the 2006 World Cup.
The announcement will come only hours after Sydney lost to Kashima Antlers in the Asian Champions League.
Only yesterday Socceroos coach Van Marwijk announced his squad for upcoming friendlies against Norway and Columbia.
World Cup 2018 qualifying stars Mile Jedinak, Aaron Mooy, Mathew Leckie, Tim Cahill, Mat Ryan, Tom Rogic, Mark Milligan and Trent Sainsbury have all been included in the squad.
