A GRANDMOTHER has been killed and a man critically injured following an alleged murder-attempted suicide at Southport.

Police were called to the Tuesley Easement home, off Tuesley Ct, around 8am on Friday following reports of a double stabbing.

The Bulletin reports that a 73-year-old man stabbed his 69-year-old partner to death before stabbing himself multiple times.

He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with a serious neck wound.

Neighbours said the couple had lived in the home for almost two decades.

A crime scene has been established and the immediate area cordoned off as forensic teams analyse the scene.
