Granny flat destroyed by fire in Sydney’s south-west, cops probe cause

Police are investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed a granny flat in Sydney’s south-west on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the Chancery Street home at Canley Vale just before 9.30pm.

On arrival, crews noticed a granny flat well alight.


Fire fighters contained the flames to the one building, however, the granny flat was destroyed.

The flat was unoccupied at the time and no one was injured, police said.

A crime scene was established and examined by forensic police and specialist fire investigators.

An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire.
