OLYMPIC medallist Grant Hackett is seeking treatment for a dependency on the sleeping pill Stilnox in the United States, according to his manager.
Hackett’s Manager Chris White issued a statement saying Hackett is addicted to the drug.
“Grant is currently in transit to seek treatment for a dependency to Stilnox medication,” he said.

“His family and friends are enormously proud of his courage in pursuing this course of action.”
Stilnox is a quick-acting drug for insomniacs. The drug has significant hypnotic effects and some users have reported unexplained sleepwalking, sleep driving, binge eating while taking it.
Hackett has denied he is going to rehab, and told reporters on Wednesday he was in the US for a break.
“I’ve had an extended period of, I guess, stress and lots of other things taking place in my life so … just looking forward to having a little bit of rest and recovery and time off and recharging the batteries,” he said.
Hackett was photographed semi-naked at Melbourne’s Crown Casino hotel in the early hours of Saturday morning, while looking for his 4-year-old son. He was reportedly incoherent at the time.
