GRAPHIC IMAGES: Cops catch heroin users unconscious in car with child

SHOCKING images of a couple passed out unconscious in their car after allegedly overdosing on heroin while a young child sat alone in the backseat have gone viral after being posted online by police in America.

The confronting photos show James Acord, 50, and Rhonda Pasek, 47, passed out in the front seat of their car with their mouths agape while a four-year-old child, believed to be Pasek’s son, sits silently in the back seat.

The photos were posted to Facebook by the East Liverpool, Ohio Police Department on Friday.

“We are well aware that some may be offended by these images and for that we are truly sorry, but it is time that the non drug using public sees what we are now dealing with on a daily basis,” the police department said.

“The poison known as heroin has taken a strong grip on many communities not just ours, the difference is we are willing to fight this problem until it’s gone and if that means we offend a few people along the way we are prepared to deal with that.”

Officer Kevin Thompson said Acord’s head was “bobbing back and fourth” and his speech was “unintelligible”.

He allegedly tried telling the officer he was taking Pasek, who was unconscious and turning blue in the passenger seat, to the hospital.

Acord then allegedly tried to drive away but he too fell unconscious.

Paramedics revived the couple at the scene by administering several rounds of a drug used to reverse an opiate overdose.

They were then arrested and charged with child endangerment offences.
