Grass fire breaks out near Gold Coast beach

Emergency services have been called to the scene of a small grass fire in Main Beach.

It broke out around 12.20pm, calling just one fire fighter crew to the scene.

It’s understood the fire happened on Seaworld Drive, around 500 metres north of Tower 42.

The flames are causing a bit of smoke in the area, though residents are being reassured it’s under control.

It’s not yet clear what has caused the fire.

Police are also on the scene.
