AUSTRALIA’S greatest pint-sized speller has been crowned after last nights finale of The Great Australian Spelling Bee.
Victorian speller Anirudh, 9, won the first season of the show after beating NSW runner-up Grace on Tuesday night.
The aspiring surgeon walked away with a surprise $50,000 education scholarship as well as $10,000 worth of goods for his school.

After winning the scholarship Anirudh asked his friends to pinch him.
“I need to rub my eyes and see if this is a dream,” he said. “Nope. Nope. Nope. Real. I can’t describe it. It’s like the best day of my life.”
The five runners-up also received an extremely generous prize, with a $10,000 scholarship, a Hewlett Packard tablet and $1000 of education goods for their school.
