Green light given for the Quiksilver Pro

ORGANISERS have given the green light to start the opening rounds of the Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast.

Round one will kick off at around 10:45 am with Australia’s Julian Wilson first up against Jeremy Flores and Travis Logie.

Gold Coasters Joel Parkinson and Bede Durbidge will go head to head in Heat Four with Thiago Pires.

11-time World Champion Kelly Slater could make an appearance today. He’s up in Heat Five against Australia’s Matt Wilkinson and wildcard Matt Banting.

Banting won the wildcard entry to the men’s draw after claiming victory in the trials final on Friday.

The action doesn’t stop there though. Local boy and current World Champion Mick Fanning will be up in Heat Six against Adam Melling and Dane Reynolds, who’s also in the draw with a wildcard.

In Heat Nine we’ll see two Gold Coaster’s go head to head again, with Josh Kerr and Mitch Crews taking on Filipe Toledo.
