Greg Bird under investigation by NRL Integrity Unit

Gold Coast Titans forward Greg Bird is reportedly under investigation following an off-field incident at a pub.

The incident occurred while Bird was away for teammate Anthony Don’s bucks weekend in Northern New South Wales.

It has been reported Bird was refused entry at Hotel Brunswick, and had an altercation with security staff.

CCTV footage reportedly shows the incident, which the NRL Integrity Unit are viewing as well as speaking with witnesses.

The Titans issued an official statement on Tuesday evening.

“The club is aware of an investigation currently underway by the NRL Integrity Unit regarding an alleged incident at a hotel in northern NSW last weekend”, they said.

“At this stage those investigations are yet to be completed so the club is not in a position to comment further until the outcome has been determined.”

Bird’s NRL career has been embroiled in controversy for years.

In 2015, he was tied up in the Titans cocaine scandal that affected six players, but was later acquitted.

He was fined in 2014 for urinating near a police car after his wedding in Byron Bay, and in 2008 appeared in court charged with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on his girlfriend at the time.

He was later acquitted.
