The Gold Coast Titans have announced on Wednesday night they have released star player Greg Bird from the final year of his contract.
The club released a statement confirming they received a request from Bird today and agreed to the request with immediate effect.
It’s understood Bird will now head overseas to play for French Super League club, the Catalan Dragons.

He is reported to have signed a five-year deal, two of which he’ll be an assistant coach.
“No one can doubt the commitment Greg has played with throughout his career whether it be for his club, his state, or his country. He is a fierce competitor and always gives 100% which is why his team mates at all levels love playing alongside him,” Titans Chief Executive Officer, Graham Annesely said.
“We wish Greg the very best of luck and success for the remainder of his career”, Annesley concluded.
Greg joined the Titans in 2010 and has played 129 games scoring 100 points in helping the club to finals appearances in 2010 and 2016. During his time at the Titans Greg continued to play representative football for NSW Country, NSW Origin, the Prime Ministers Xlll, the Indigenous All Stars, and Australia.
