Guests seriously injured as wild brawl erupts at pre-Christmas wedding

TWO men have been taken to hospital, one with serious eye injuries after a brawl erupted at a wedding in Sydney.

Police said emergency services were called to a function centre on West Terrace at Bankstown around 9.15pm.

They arrived to find a 19-year-old man with a serious injury to his right eye and bruising to his face, head and body.

A second 28-year-old man from Lugarno was found concussed with a severe laceration to the back of his head.

Both men were assessed by paramedics at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital for treatment.

Police said the victims became embroiled in a fight with several other men after tensions boiled over at a wedding.

The Bankstown function centre was declared a crime scene and examined overnight by forensic police.

Investigators hope to interview the injured men once they are well enough.
