A man could spend time behind bars, for an alleged shocking attack on a guide dog puppy.
The 44-year-old is accused of kicking the 12-month-old dog in the belly “with considerable force” in a Melbourne suburb on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the guide dog was with its handler, waiting outside a shop on Chapel Street in Prahran, when the man allegedly booted the pooch so hard it yelped and whimpered.

The handler took the dog to a vet to be checked over and it’s not believed to have suffered any major injuries.
Police were called and later arrested the man and charged him with animal cruelty offences.
He has been granted bail to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 9 and could face up to a year in jail or fines of up to $19,000.
