UPDATE Dec 2, 2016 @ 1320: Gold Coast police officer Chris Hurley has been fined $900 after being convicted of assault.
The Senior Sergeant was found guilty in Southport Court of assault after grabbing a man by the throat during a roadside stop at Robina three years ago.
He was found not guilty of punching and kicking the man.

The court heard Hurley, who was acquitted in 2007 of the manslaughter of Palm Island man Cameron Doomadgee, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and his police career of almost 30 years was over no matter what today’s sentence was.
EARLIER Dec 2, 2016 @ 1113: Suspended Gold Coast police officer Chris Hurley has been found guilty of assaulting a man in a roadside incident three years ago.
The controversial Senior Sergeant was convicted on two counts of assault for grabbing a man by the throat and unlawfully drawing his Taser during a confrontation at Robina in November 2013.
Hurley was found not guilty on two counts of assault; he was accused of punching and kicking the victim.
He will be sentenced later today.
