Guilty plea over coward punch attack in Brisbane

One of the men charged over a fatal coward punch attack on talented water polo player Cole Miller in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, has pleaded guilty.

21 year old Armstrong Renata has appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, where he has admitted killing 18 year old Miller on January 3.

Miller and a friend were reportedly attacked by Renata’s co-accused, Daniel Maxwell, then Renata delivered the hit
that caused Miller to fall and hit his head on the concrete.

The talented athlete died from his injuries in hospital the next day.

Renata has pleaded guilty to unlawful striking causing death and will be sentenced in Queensland’s Supreme Court at a date
to be set.

Maxwell has also been charged with unlawful striking causing death but is expected to contest the charge, arguing it was
Renata who delivered the fatal blow.
