Gun dumped in shopping centre toilet after stolen car crash

TWO men have been charged after going on a wild drive in a stolen car at Logan.

The chaotic scenes began around 5.30pm on Tuesday, when a stolen Ford ute was allegedly seen driving dangerously northbound on the M1 at Logan.

Police say the ute collided with another vehicle on the M1 before it entered the car park of the Logan Hyperdome, where the male passenger tried to make a run for it into the shopping centre.

“The stolen vehicle attempted to leave the car park where it then collided with another vehicle before crashing into a gutter,” Qld Police said.

“The male driver attempted to flee on foot however was apprehended by police.”

Officers searched a toilet inside the shopping centre where the passenger had been seen to enter and found a firearm.

The man was later taken into custody at a Loganholme address.

Both men, a 27-year-old Kingston man and a 30-year-old Tanah Merah man have been charged with a string of offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They’re due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court this morning.
