POLICE are investigating the armed robbery of a hotel just north of the Gold Coast, during which staff were held hostage.
Around 12.45am two men smashed the front glass door of the Marsden business and forced their way into the closed premises.
The pair threatened two staff members with what is believed to be a firearm before tying the employees’ hands behind their backs and stealing a sum of cash.

The men fled the Chambers Flat Road hotel on foot and no one was physically injured during the incident.
One of the men is described as being Pacific Islander in appearance, more than 180cm tall, having a muscular build and was wearing a balaclava.
The second man is described as being about 180cm tall with a proportionate build and was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
Investigations are continuing.
