Gunman collapses after storming chemist
A MAN is in a critical condition after collapsing, allegedly while holding chemist staff at gunpoint in South Australia.
The 43-year-old allegedly burst into a pharmacy at Kadina, northwest of Adelaide, wielding a gun just after 5.20pm on Friday and demanded prescription medication.
Police said staff complied and gave the man the medication, which he allegedly self-administered before collapsing.
“The man allegedly demanded and self-administered prescription medication. He subsequently collapsed,” South Australia Police said in a statement.
Staff ran out of the Port Road pharmacy and waited for police to arrive, the statement said.
Police said the 43-year-old Wallaroo man was rushed to the Wallaroo Hospital in a critical condition.
He remained there today, under police guard.
Thankfully, no one was physically harmed during the incident.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
