Gunman on the run following Merrimac ‘love triangle’ shooting

A gunman remains on the run after shooting at another male on the Gold Coast yesterday.

It’s believed a ‘love triangle’ is to blame for the violent incident which occurred outside Mike’s Kitchen on Gooding Drive in Merrimac about 3.30pm Sunday.

The man allegedly fired multiple shots through a car door, injuring the driver, a 24-year-old man.


The victim managed to drive himself to Robina hospital with multiple gun shot wounds to the legs.

The gunman fled the scene in a vehicle, leaving behind his accomplice, a 19-year-old woman, who is believed to be the victims ex-girlfriend.

The woman tried to run from police, however was arrested at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
