Guy who assaulted Suns star ‘more of an NRL fan’ Lawyer says outside court

A teenager has pleaded guilty to assaulting Suns AFL player Jack Martin in Broadbeach on June 4.

Excell John Placid, 20, faced Southport Magistrates Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was ordered to pay $800 in compensation and ordered to do 12 months of community service.  The details of that order are yet to be figured out.

Martin himself was cleared of any wrongdoing after the night out. He suffered bruising and swelling to the back of his head after he was hit.

Placid’s Lawyer Michael McMillan told reporters outside court his client did not follow the Suns and was “more of an NRL fan”.
