Hair torn out, fake nails ripped off as women punch on in brutal bar brawl

A WOMAN has had her fake nails torn off and another has had her hair ripped out of her head in a wild brawl which broke out in a bar in Sydney overnight.

The wild scenes played out at the Odyssey Bar Restaurant on Norton Street in Leichhardt around 11.30pm.

Police said two women known to each other triggered the brutal brawl after they started punching on at the bar.

A large number of men and women allegedly rushed in and started unleashing a flurry of punches.

Police were called and arrived to find most patrons had already left.

A 30-year-old woman was treated for a sprained ankle and the loss of some hair from her head, police said.

A second woman, 33, was treated for injured fingers after losing a number of false nails.

The older woman was arrested but later released without charge, pending further inquiries.

Investigations into the brawl are continuing, with police calling on witnesses with mobile phone footage to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
