Hakuakai Karate Club scores $2000 Sunshine Automotive Community Fund donation

Japan Karate Do Hakuakai Australia have struck gold, scoring a $2000 donation from the Sunshine Automotive Community Fund.

The local not-for-profit sporting organisation beat out 21 other community groups in the running for the cash, after they secured the highest number of votes in the December round on the myGC.com.au website.

On Friday afternoon some members of the Hakuakai Karate Club were on hand to receive the giant cheque at Sunshine Automotive.

Japan Karate Do Hakuakai Australia spokesperson Barry O’Callaghan told myGC the club was jumping for joy after hearing the news that they had won the cash. “We are absolutely over the moon. It is beyond words. Thank you so much Sunshine Automotive and 1029 Hot Tomato!” he said.

“It means so much for us to receive this donation. We are a club that began just over 18 months ago. It’s a wonderful family environment – the older kids even help train the younger ones. The $2000 gives us an amazing leg up because we will be able to purchase some new equipment and mats.”
