A hard-working Gold Coast woman has discovered she’s the city’s mystery $1 million lotto winner after finally checking her lucky ticket.
The Elanora local admitted she had been too busy working long hours to check her Saturday Gold Lotto entry which she purchased almost four weeks ago.
The woman’s entry was one of four division one winning entries across Australia, however as she was not registered to a Winners Circle card, Golden Casket officials had no way of contacting her to break the life-changing news.

Luckily, on Wednesday afternoon the woman decided to check her ticket.
“Oh my god! Oh shivers! I don’t know what to say,” the woman exclaimed when a Golden Casket official confirmed her win.
“I had no idea! I’ve been so busy. I kept saying I’d go and check. I’ve been working from 6am to 7pm every day and I didn’t have time to do anything.
“Today I just came to pick up another ticket and I thought I’d check this one!”
While still coming to terms with the shock, the overwhelmed woman said her Lotto win was life changing.
“I’ve been working hard and planning on going on an overseas holiday in a few years’ time. I want to go see some family in Europe. I haven’t seen them in a very long time. Now there could be a family reunion sooner rather than later,” she said.
“I might even think about an early retirement!”
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 24-game QuickPick entry at The Pines News & Gifts shop at The Pines Shopping Centre.
