NEW recreational opportunities are being considered at Hinze Dam on the Gold Coast and the community is being invited to have its say.
Water Supply Minister Mark McArdle said it was part of the most extensive review of recreation of South East Queensland dams and catchments ever undertaken.
He said the discussion paper on Hinze Dam covers the various activities currently available and provides an avenue for the community to formally submit any opportunities they see for recreation at the lake.

“We want to find out what the local community and visitors to the lake think about current recreation arrangements and future opportunities,” he said.
“The community will be able to get involved by attending public information sessions and workshops, as well as accessing information on Seqwater’s website and participating in an online survey.
The information sessions for Hinze Dam will be held at:
• Gold Coast Farmers Market, Lavelle Street, Nerang – 8am-9.30am, Sunday 1 June
• Hinze Dam Visitor Centre – 10am-11.30am, Sunday 1 June
Following on from the information session, a community workshop will be held. All interested people are encouraged to attend the discussion workshop in the local area. Workshop dates will be announced soon.
