Hayne gets a couple of touches, as 49ers endure third straight loss

UPDATE: THE San Francisco 49ers have suffered their third straight NFL loss after going down 17-3 to the Green Bay Packers on Monday morning.

Jarryd Hayne didn’t have the best of games, returning just two punts and fumbled another.

The undefeated Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers dominated from the start, coming into the 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium and punishing San Francisco, whose quarterback Colin Kaepernick had another poor outing.

Former NRL star Hayne – who made just six yards on his two returns – was involved in one of the lowlights when he attempted to call a fair catch on a punt in the second quarter, teammate LJ McCray bowled him over, he fumbled, the ball hit the ground and luckily another teammate Dontae Johnson recovered.

After the match, coach Jim Tomsula said there’s plenty more the team needs to work on.

“We came up short. Green Bay played a heck of a game. Offensively we’ve got to get some things ironed out and that starts with me,” Tomsula said.

“You don’t go around these things. You go through them. So lock your jaw and keep going.”

The win for the Packers sees them continue their unbeaten run through the first 4 weeks of the competition.

EARLIER: JARRYD Hayne has had a lucky escape when he attempted to call a fair catch on a punt, but was knocked over by one of his own San Francisco 49ers players and fumbled the ball.

The 49ers are down 7-3 against the Green Bay Packers in the second quarter on their home field.

Hayne has caught two punts for a total of just six yards at this stage. San Francisco were extremely luck to not give up the ball when Hayne called for a fair catch from a 41 yard punt, but was bowled over by team-mate LJ McCray.

Thankfully for the 49ers, the ball rolled toward their end zone before teammate Dontae Johnson, was able to recover the ball.
