Jarryd Hayne has made the most of his second chance with the San Francisco 49ers, making his presence known in their clash with the Detroit Lions this morning.
Hayne was named in the side earlier on Monday morning (AEDT) and ran out onto the field at running back.
In the first quarter he made a blockbusting 11-yard run that put quarterback Blaine Gabbert in a position to connect with tight end Vance McDonald for a touchdown.

In total the former NRL star had five receptions and nine carries for a combined 47 yards at running back.
“I thought he represented himself well,” 49ers coach Jim Tomsula said.
Despite a strong first half by the 49ers, the team returned to their error-prone ways and tepid offence in the second half to fall to the Lions 32-17.
The 49ers went scoreless in the second half.
Hayne’s return to the field came after almost two months on the 49ers’ practice squad.
The 49ers’ drop to a four win, 11 loss season with Hayne doing enough to play next Sunday’s final game against the St Louis Rams.
