Hockeyroos win gold in penalty shootout

THE Hockeyroos have won a penalty shootout against England in the women’s hockey this morning.

The match was a nail biter with captain Madonna Bligh landing the final shot to secure the shootout.

Australian goalkeeper Rachael Lynch also had an outstanding match, saving three shootout attempts from the English.

After spending much of the second half up around the opposing circle without securing a goal, it was looking like England might escape with the win.

But the Aussie girls scored a goal with 13 seconds left in the match to be one-all and force a shootout.
