A 91-year-old lady has been left traumatised after being kicked to the ground by a heartless woman who broke into her NSW home and ransacked her bedroom.
Police say the elderly lady was awoken by an intruder in the bedroom of her Barton Street home at East Maitland shortly after 8am on Saturday.

She noticed her cupboard doors and drawers had been opened and a woman standing in her bedroom had taken her handbag.
A struggle ensued when the lady got out of bed and challenged the intruder for her handbag.
The heartless woman then allegedly kicked the 91-year-old in the lower right leg, causing her to scream out in pain, before throwing the handbag at her and running from the home.
Police were called and arrested a 45-year-old woman in a neighbouring yard who was allegedly found in possession of property stolen from the home.
She was taken to Maitland Police Station and later charged with aggravated break and enter inflict actual bodily harm, possess housebreaking implements and malicious damage.
Refused bail, she was due to appear at Maitland Bail Court later today.
Police say the elderly lady suffered bruising to her leg following the assault but did not require medical treatment.
