Heartless thief charged with robbing 78yo man at Sydney ATM

A MAN is due to face court today, accused of robbing a 78-year-old man as he withdrew money from an ATM in Bankstown.

About 10.50pm on Wednesday 1 November, the man was getting money out from an ATM at Greenfield Parade when he was approached by a younger man.

The elderly man told police that the younger man hit him in the face before stealing his money.

Following ongoing investigations, police arrested a 28-year-old man at his Greenacre home this morning.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery as well as contravening an unrelated apprehended violence order.

The man was refused bail and will appear before Bankstown Local Court later today.
