Heavily pregnant woman dragged along concrete path in violent bag-snatch

A HEARTLESS thief remains on the run after dragging a 9-months pregnant woman down a concrete walkway before stealing her bag.

The shocking incident happened in Canley Vale just after 5.00pm on Monday.

“A 23-year-old woman, who is 9-months pregnant, left Canley Vale Railway Station and started walking towards First Avenue where she was due to meet her husband,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“While she was waiting, a man grabbed her handbag that was over her shoulder, and started dragging her down a concrete walkway. The woman let go of her bag and the man started to run.”

A man rushed to the woman’s aid and started chasing after the thief, however lost sight of him when he started cutting through backyards.

The woman was taken to the Birthing Unit for treatment to cuts and abrasions, and observation.

Police say she has since been released.

Her attacker remains on the run. He is described as being aged in his 20s with a medium build and short brown hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit top with blue stripes, and dark coloured track pants.
