Heavy fog causes flight delays and cancellations in Brisbane

Heavy fog is once again causing issues for anyone planning to fly out of Brisbane Airport on Friday morning.

Motorists are reporting it is very hard to see driving along the M1 through Loganholme and into Brisbane.

A quick check of the Brisbane Airport website reveals some flights have been cancelled or delayed after the same thing happened earlier in the week.

Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Australia flights arriving in Brisbane are delayed, some by close to an hour.  Emirates faces a cancellation and delays inbound.

Outbound flights face some delays too.

On Tuesday Brisbane Airport was plagued by delays of up to two hours and cancellations and diversions.  In one case a Qantas 747 jumbo jet was forced to land at Gold Coast Airport.

The fog was visible south to the Gold Coast and north to the Sunshine Coast and west to Toowoomba.

The Bureau of Meteorology advised it was caused by a high in the Tasman Sea combining with a surface trough.
