Helensvale NightQuarter market vendor dies after suffering heart attack

A Gold Coast market vendor who was rushed to hospital after going into cardiac arrest at the Helensvale NightQuarter markets on Saturday has died.

NightQuarter director Michelle Christoe issued a statement to myGC on Monday afternoon, confirming the tragic news.

Ms Christoe said the woman had a pre-existing medical condition which led to her suffering the heart attack; not from heat stress, which was initially reported.

“She passed away peacefully in hospital this afternoon with her family by her side,” the statement reads.

“The NightQuarter community of vendors and staff are devastated by the news and ask that you respect the family’s privacy and allow them to mourn in peace.”

“We would like to thank our Senior First Aid Staff, Queensland Ambulance Services and the Medical team at Gold Coast Hospital who did all they could to try and save her.”

NightQuarter will be raising money for the family at the market next Saturday night as a gesture to assist the family at this time.

“A barrel will be at the front entry to collect donations,” the statement reads.

“Our thoughts and love are with the family at this time.”
