Helensvale woman arrested in Sydney for Qld murder

A GOLD COAST woman will be extradited from New South Wales to Queensland after being arrested for her involvement in the murder of rugby league identity Tony McGrath in 2013.

Police say the 45-year-old woman from Helensvale was detained in Sydney on Friday after Queensland Police issued a warrant for her arrest following investigations into the murder of Mr McGrath, 57, on May 21, 2013.

Mr McGrath died after being shot in the head. His body was found in the garage of his Woolloongabba home.

The Gold Coast woman is currently in police custody in New South Wales and will face a Sydney court on Monday where detectives from the Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit will seek her extradition to Queensland.

A 43-year-old man was also arrested on the Gold Coast on Thursday over his alleged involvement in the murder. He appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court where he was remanded in custody.
