Woman fighting for life after ‘trampoline parts’ crash through car windscreen

UPDATE @ 7.00AM August 24 | A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a horror accident in the Gold Coast hinterland.

It’s understood a Toyota Hilux carrying a trampoline was travelling west along Mundoolun Connection Road around 12.20pm on Friday, when parts of the trampoline broke off and hit a Hyundai travelling behind it before hitting a Toyota Rav 4.

The 63-year-old woman driving the Toyota sustained life-threatening head injuries and was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.


The 31-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was treated for minor head injuries, however did not need transport to hospital.

While the 39-year-old male driver of the Hilux was also treated on scene by paramedics, but also did not require transport to hospital.

Police say he’s assisting them with enquiries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

UPDATE @ 3.00 PM | A WOMAN is in a critical condition after a trampoline went through her car windscreen in the Gold Coast hinterland this afternoon.

The 60-year-old was travelling along Mundoolun Connection Road in Boyland around 12.30pm when a trampoline allegedly flew off another vehicle, causing the woman’s car to crash into a tree.

Multiple emergency crews including critical care paramedics and the high acuity response unit rushed to the scene.

The woman was treated for a critical head injury before being airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Another driver was treated by paramedics for minor head injuries but did not require transport to hospital.

EARLIER @ 2.00 PM | EMERGENCY crews are currently at the scene of a serious traffic crash in the hinterland.

The accident happened on Mundoolun Connection Road in Boyland around 12.30pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC a woman has suffered critical head injuries.

She’s being treated by paramedics, along with a second person who has minor head injuries.

A rescue helicopter has been tasked to the scene to transport the woman, who is in a critical condition.
