A man’s furry companion has helped save him from an armed attacker at a home in Toowoomba overnight.
Police say that just after 9.30pm, an 18-year-old man entered a home on Wuth Street and assaulted a 58-year-old man with a knife.
The man’s dog rushed to his aid and attacked the offender, causing him to flee the scene.

The 58-year-old man then drove himself to hospital for treatment and whilst being interviewed by police, his attacker presented himself at the same hospital with wounds inflicted by a dog.
Police arrested the 18-year-old and charged him with unlawful wounding, enter dwelling with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
