A US teenager has broken the world record for the most amount of retweets, scoring himself a year’s supply of his beloved chicken nuggets.
In April, Carter Wilkerson, 16, asked US food chain Wendy’s how many retweets he would need to win a year’s supply of free chicken nuggets.
In a tweet, the fried chicken company proposed “18 million”.

Since then, Wilkerson’s tweet for a year’s supply of free chicken nuggets has been retweeted more than 3.5 million times, passing Ellen DeGeneres’s famous Oscars selfie tweet, which scored more than 3.4 million.
“It’s official. Carter Wilkerson’s call for a year’s supply of free nuggets from @Wendys has become the Tweet heard around the world. With 3.42M Retweets, it has officially surpassed Ellen’s infamous selfie as the most Retweeted Tweet of all time,” Twitter confirmed in a statement.
While Carter hasn’t reached the target of 18 million yet, Wendy’s awarded Carter for breaking the record for most retweets.
Not only did Carter win his year supply of free nuggets, Wendys also made a $100,000 donation to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, a charity which Carter supports.
