Former Hey Dad! star sentenced to 10 years for child sex abuse

FORMER Hey Dad! star Robert Hughes has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for historic child sex offences.

He was sentenced to a maximum 10 years and nine months for destroying the lives of young girls during the 1980s and early 1990s.

District Court Judge Peter Zahra said Hughes’ behaviour was brazen and predatory during the run of the hit Australian sitcom.

He will be eligible for parole on April 6, 2020 after serving a minimum six years.

The 65-year-old reportedly remained expressionless as the sentence was handed down on Friday afternoon.
