COMPARISONS have been made with five-time V8 Supercars champion Jamie Whincup after Shane Van Gisbergen rattled off back to back wins in the Australian Grand Prix exhibition round.
Van Gisbergen ignored off-field dramas to turn heads on the track for all the right reasons on Friday.
After winning the opening 10-lap event at the non-championship V8 round by more than six seconds, van Gisbergen was again never headed as he claimed race two honours at Albert Park ahead of fellow Holden drivers Craig Lowndes and Fabian Coulthard.

Three-time V8 champion Lowndes admitted van Gisbergen’s talent reminded him of his Red Bull Holden teammate Whincup.
“There was never a question about his ability, it was just getting him in the right surroundings,” Lowndes said of van Gisbergen.
“I saw the same thing in Jamie. He was quick but made some mistakes. Once he matured he achieved great things.”
The third V8 round will be held at Albert Park in Melbourne later today.
