The ‘highest-paid dead celebrities of 2017’ have been revealed

The world’s top-earning dead celebrity has been revealed in Forbes’ annual Halloween-spooky list of the ‘highest-paid dead celebrities’.

According to the US business magazine, Michael Jackson came in at number one for the fifth straight year, generating a whopping US$75 million.

Forbes attributed Jackson’s earnings to a new greatest hits album, a Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas and a stake in the EMI music publishing catalogue.

Coming in at second was golf legend Arnold Palmer with US$40 million and in third spot was Peanuts creator Charles Schulz with an income of US$38 million.

Fellow singer Elvis Presley finished fourth with $35 million, which was thanks to the “new $45 million Elvis Presley’s Memphis entertainment complex and recently-opened hotel The Guesthouse at Graceland,” Forbes said.

In fifth spot was Bob Marley with $23 million, which was “boosted by sustainability-focused House of Marley audio products and the Marley Beverage Co.”
