A RECORD 4.193 million viewers across the country tuned in to watch last nights epic State of Origin battle, making it the highest rating television show of 2014 and the highest rating Origin Game in history.
The Maroons tried their best to win the all-important Game Two and take the 2014 series to a deciding match on July 9, but succumbed to the Blues in the final 10 minutes.
An audience of 2.699 million viewers across metropolitan centres – peaking at 2.990 million – watched as the Blues secured victory in a nail-biting 6-4 finish

Meanwhile, a further 1.494 million people tuned in from regional areas, peaking at 1.762 million.
The historic match was the number one program of the night right along the East Coast.
Social media was also abuzz with activity, with more than 70,500 #Origin Tweets logged, with a match high Tweets-per-minute of 1,826 following the final whistle as the congratulatory tweets flowed from NSW supporters.
